This brings up a question. The rules to this contest, which, as far as I know, were written by Lyehopper, state that if someone wishes to short a stock, there must actually be shares available to short.

Does anyone have a simple method of determining whether there are shares of a given stock available to short? What is it?

I thought you wrote the rules...Now I understand why there are so many loopholes...IIC<g>

Brokers like IB and MyTrack tell you if they are shortable.

For MyTrack you need to install the platform to search for the info.

Week 25 (12), Day 3

As we round the third bend on the course, IIC moves up two bloody places and pulls into the lead with Abaxis, Inc. (ABAX), not to be confused with Abraxas, an ancient Egyptian demon-god, or Santana's 2nd LP, released in 1970 with such memorable hits as Oye Como Va (translation: "Hey How's It Going") and Black Magic Woman. Abaxis makes portable systems for blood analysis.

Moving up three bloody slots to number two is Mr. fuzzy crosshairs, shoot-from-the-hip himself, Lyehopper. His 2nd play of the week, Cerus Corp. (CERS) also makes products associated with blood. What is this, vampire week or something? Vampires suck.

Jumping eight bloody places today is your favorite reptile and mine, Gatorman. The Gator-dude cast his lot this week with a company called Bio-Reference Laboratories, Inc. (BRLI). Now BRLI provides clinical testing services, which assist docs in the diagnosis and treatment of various disorders. What do they test? Among other things, as you might have guessed ... blood!

That rounds out the bloody top three so far. So now that I've "spilled" the news, do you feel "pumped" up? Or are you feeling a deficiency of iron? A little "clotted" perhaps? Not enough oxygen to the grey matter? Maybe you don't care and are just going to "coagulate" in front of your new "plasma" TV until your eyes are "bloodshot." Well don't get your capillaries in an uproar. There are still a couple of days left, and anything can happen.
