AGNC update for 9/12/2012

Next X-div date is 9/21/2012 - this is the date you must own the shares to collect the dividend that will be paid on 10/26/2012.

The Dividend amount is the same as last time at $1.25 per share

The share price is up a little over 27% year to date…. Add in those dividends and your looking at about 40% YTD…. Nice


Now if you are looking for a REIT that pays each month, check out ARR. It just went X –div today and pays on the 27th of this month…

Here's a question I've been pondering. I now own a little over 500 shares after reinvesting dividends for a while. If I sold covered calls this week and I get assigned, am I still on record for the dividend? Since the ex-div date is Friday, the record date should be Thursday so I should still get the dividend. Am I thinking right? If I get assigned I can just buy more shares for next time and reinvest the dividend in Oct.

Well since the ex-div date is actually Wed, no issues. I sold some calls that should offset the drop in price on Wed and I shouldn't get assigned unless the price goes back up over 36 by Friday.
