Go into your Excel worksheet and select the cell you want to color.
Then go to Format | Conditional Formatting. You can specify what to do if the cell value is less than zero. Click on format, then you will see the Font, Border, and Patterns tabs. The Pattens will allow you to set the color when the value is less than zero.
